Main duties of the job
About the Role
The post-holder will work as part of the Targeted CAMHS Citywide team in the community as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering, high-quality; brief outcome focused therapeutic interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, these may include anxiety, low mood and behavioural difficulties.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
Relevant professional qualification in mental health nursing, psychotherapy, counselling or above in arelevant field.
Experience of delivering therapeutic interventions to children, young people or their families (e.g. Guided Self Help, CBT, parent work)
Knowledge and existing skills regarding a range of therapeutic interventions and their application to practice for a wide range of mental health presentations. Including a sound knowledge of theory and its application to evidence based practice.
Ability to provide effective interventions, experience of facilitating group work, training, consultation and assessments including risk assessments.
A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.

1. Job purpose: The post holder will be a member of one of our community-based teams working in partnership with social care, health and education agencies. To deliver accessible services for children & young people with a range of emotional & behavioural difficulties. These vulnerabilities may include: Learning difficulties/disability, ASD, ADHD and/or developmental/conduct disorders. Children and Y/P who may have suffered trauma/abuse. Children/YP who are in need of sexual health advice and support.
2. Principal duties and responsibilities
Child and family work
To deliver good outcomes for children through taking referrals, completing assessments regarding young peoples emotional and mental health needs and creating an effective plan for intervention.
To ensure delivery of appropriate services to children and their families, according to their assessed needs. This will include direct interventions based on a range of evidence based therapeutic interventions. To provide individual and group interventions with young people their families and communities. Making decisions and managing risk appropriately regarding effective care planning and pathways.
To offer consultation and training and joint working regarding childrens and young peoples emotional and mental health needs. Enhancing skills and knowledge within the partner agencies and across the community. To maintain professional case records, including inputting onto the Departments information systems and accessing information from relevant registers. Producing reports to a high standard.
Partnerships and networking.
To contribute to the creation and maintenance of good working relationships at all levels with colleagues in partner agencies, local community groups and other City Council Departments, representing the team at inter-agency meetings as appropriate.
To work with effectively with Community (previously Specialist) CAMHS in line with clinical governance and departmental policies. Act as an effective liaison ensuring clear communication between and within childrens services.
To work flexibly as a team member in a multi agency team to develop the quality of our services, to improve the mental health and emotional wellbeing of the children and young people in the locality. Working within the CAPA model and being committed to develop and expand skills and therapeutic knowledge to work with a wide range of mental health needs.
Accountability.
To manage own workload effectively, maintaining appropriate records and preparing and submitting reports as required.
To participate in individual supervision with their mental health specialist and their line manager, as well as undertaking appropriate training and developmental opportunities and attending team meetings as required.
To demonstrate commitment and sensitivity to ensuring equality of opportunity in service delivery.
To provide the highest standards of safeguarding to children young people/vulnerable adults who access our services, adhering to NCC's safeguarding polices and procedures.
3. All staff are expected to maintain high standards of customer care in the context of the City councils Core Values, to uphold the Equality and Diversity Policy and health and safety standards and to participate in training activities necessary to their post.

Essential
- Relevant professional qualification, Social work, nursing or teaching, Dipsw, CSS, CQSW, QTS, RMN, NVQ 4 or above in a relevant field.
- Direct experience as practitioner in childcare setting. Minimum 2 years experience.
- Knowledge of relevant childcare legislation and Government Guidance. Childrens Act, NSF etc.
- Ability to provide effective care pathways. Well-established case management skills.
- Knowledge and awareness regarding mental health problems and their impact on young people and their families.
- Knowledge and existing skills regarding a range of therapeutic interventions and their application to practice for a wide range of mental health presentations. Including a sound knowledge of theory and its application to evidence based practice.
