We provide care for children aged 12+, meeting the complex needs of children and young people who have significant emotional, behavioural, and mental health needs which do not meet the criteria for treatment in hospital, or the threshold for secure accommodation, but require a high level of support. With a planned multi-agency intervention package, children will experience the skill and expertise of Children's Services residential and education staff, along with co-located Health Services who will work within a common framework of trauma informed therapeutic intervention. Creating this new local provision will enable the children to maintain family contacts, with the goal of reuniting the child with their family or supporting their transition to independence.
Main duties of the job
What youll do:- Build positive, trauma-informed relationships with children, families and professionals to advocate for their needs.
- Provide high-quality physical and emotional care in a safe, supportive environment.
- Help children achieve progress in education, life skills and personal development.
- Contribute to care plans, maintain accurate records, and write reports for families and professionals.
- Ensure safety through risk assessments, safeguarding practices and compliance with policies.
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development to meet legislative and care standards.
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete with support).
- Understanding of child development, safeguarding and trauma-informed care.
- Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Emotionally resilient and physically able to meet the demands of the role.
- Able to use IT systems.
