Job summary

As a Senior Care Assistant you'll contribute to and participate in the smooth running of the unit and youll shift lead in the absence of the Nurse. Youll also work within our established team to contribute to the development of care plans for people who use our service, ensuring we continually offer a person centred approach. You'll effectively lead, motivate and support staff to promote person centred care and ensure that residents needs are met.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining people's wellbeing, care, support and safety.
  • Providing leadership and support for staff.
  • Providing medication and support in the delivery of high-quality End of Life care.
  • Accurately recording and updating resident's records.
  • Adhering to professional and departmental standards, policies and procedures.
  • Key decision making in resident's support plans and rota management.

Day to day tasks may include:

  • Building positive relationships with people using the service, considering their life history, likes and dislikes etc.
  • Supervising and supporting care staff on a day to day basis and through informal and formal supervision processes, including care practice monitoring, valuing performance meetings and annual appraisals.
  • Supporting people to access the community for health appointments and social activities.
  • Completing and maintaining records, ensuring compliance with agreed departmental requirements, procedures and standards.
  • Ensuring a high standard of person-centred care is provided.
  • Identifying training needs for care staff.
  • Supporting care staff including agency carers in the completion of their induction.
  • Administration of medication in line with HCC Policy and medication training.
  • Providing person-centred personal care as per support plan, to meet the social, emotional and care needs of people using the service, ensuring their comfort and safety.
