Calderdale Councils
Occupational Therapy department are looking for a number of Occupational
Therapists to work within the area of Adult Services and Wellbeing, Prevention
& Early Help. Suitable for newly qualified and experienced therapists.
Calderdale can offer
experience of working in a range of different Occupational Therapy areas and
settings including: The front door triage team, equipment and adaptations,
assistive technology team, community led support, discharge to assess and assessment
bed settings, care package reviews.
We support team working
and provide a multi-disciplinary approach to the assessment of adults with a
physical or learning disability to keep them happier and healthier at home
through equipment and major adaptation provision, as well as contributing to
the assessment of care packages through manual handling intervention and
supporting the discharge from hospital and assessment beds.

Level 2
1.
Have
quality strength-based conversations at the referral stage, gathering and
interpreting information to enable people to live as independently as possible,
in line with current legislation and policies; where appropriate to
determine eligibility under The Care Act 2014 and council policy. Undertake holistic,
functional telephone assessments and environmental assessments of people and
their carers/families with support from your supervisor if needed.
2.
Working
in an integrated way with a range of colleagues from health, public sector and
voluntary sector to ensure outcomes are enhanced for individuals and that they
maintain / maximise their independence; have proportionate care packages and
support with assessments post discharge where appropriate.
3.
Carry
an independent complex caseload to assess for, demonstrate and instruct individuals
and/or carers in the safe use of disability equipment, completing reviews where
necessary and seeking appropriate support and guidance from Advanced
Practitioner and Level 3 Occupational Therapist when needed.
4.
Complete
independent manual handling assessments seeking guidance from Advanced Practitioner
and Level 3 Occupational Therapist where needed, proving safe systems of
working for people and their carers, giving support to less experienced staff.
5.
Use
legislation, guidance and creative, therapeutic practice to ensure that key
concepts and theories in occupational therapy are utilised to ensure the best
possible outcomes for adults at risk.
6.
Undertake
critical continued training as per the professional requirements of the post
and in accordance with registration requirements. Occupational Therapists will
be expected to proactively engage in post qualification awards and continued
professional development of their practice.
7.
To contribute
the development of some staff including unqualified Occupational Therapy staff
and newly qualified, return to practice staff, as well as students.
8.
Ensure
your practice maintains the requirements as set out in the RCOT professional
standards for Occupational Therapy Practice and the HCPC Standards of
Proficiency for Occupational Therapists.
Level 3 - All tasks at Level 2 also
Progress to Level 3 will be in
line with the Progression Pathway.
9.
Play a leading
role within a range of multi-agency teams to ensure coordinated, appropriate
assessments and support that remain person centred and enable people to
maintain their independence, achieve their outcomes and play a valued and
active part in the community wherever possible.
10.
Ensure that
all commissioning is undertaken that provides people with appropriate levels of
support whilst further ensuring that the user and council receive best value
for money. Ensure the quality of Occupational Therapy provision meets standards
expected and report on quality assurance and performance management.
11. Take a lead role in
supporting the development of others when required including students,
apprentices and trainees and contribute to the development of other staff
including less experienced Occupational Therapy staff such as Level 2 staff and
