Job summary
We are looking to recruit aself-motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapistwith excellent goal-setting and communication skills to join our friendly, supportive, and experienced team.
You will be the sole Occupational therapist supported by an experienced Occupational therapy assistant covering East Devon.
Be part of a team that valuesregular peer support, supervision, appraisal, and with a strong commitment to learning and development, including access to regular CPD sessions.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will:
- Use yourcore occupational therapy skillsto assess the needs of adults with a wide range of disabilities and health conditions.
- Enable individuals to maximise their independence and potential, while increasing safety and reducing risk to themselves and their carers.
- Hold and manage acaseload including lone working, providing a person-centred service through clinical assessment within the context of local government policy and legislation.
- Deliver interventions guided by theCare Act 2014 eligibility criteriaand a strengths-based approach. These may include signposting or advice, provision of equipment, minor and major adaptations, support with rehousing, recommendations for care packages, or referrals to other teams.
- Screen complex referrals, support team leaders through joint visits and peer supervision, and contribute to the development and delivery of updated training for our team of support workers.
- Act as an autonomous practitioner working across a different community settings . Being responsible for managing risk, the delivery of safe person centred interventions , be able to solve problems in partnership with the individuals you support

TheEastern Social Care Reablement teamis based atGreat Moor House in Exeter, supporting individuals across East and Mid Devon, including rural communities, towns, and the city of Exeter. We are a dynamic and supportive team made up ofOccupational Therapists, Reablement Team Leaders and Reablement Support Workers, working collaboratively to promote independence and recovery.
We work closely withNHS colleagues, other adult social care teams, housing providers, and community servicesto deliver timely, person-centred interventions. Our assessments are carried outface-to-face in peoples homes, as well asvirtually or by telephone, depending on the needs and preferences of the individual.
Our focus is onshort-term, strengths-based interventionsthat empower people to regain skills and confidence following illness, injury, or changes in circumstanceshelping them to live as independently as possible.
