Grade G £35,411 - £39,493 per annum leading to Grade H £40,478 - £44,539 per annum (both pro rata) upon successful completion of the AMHP training course.
A generous relocation package is available for successful external candidates for the North Devon position.
We are delighted to invite applications for three Trainee AMHP posts within the daytime AMHP service.
The successful candidate will be supported to access the 2024 Bournemouth University AMHP training course, following a period of induction and preparation for the role.
The course is full time and delivered at masters level for approximately six months (starting in April 2024). Candidates will need to commit to being available for that whole period.
Consideration will be given to part-time working after completion of the AMHP Training, this should be discussed at interview.
This post is open to registered social workers, occupational therapists and mental health nurses with the required level of pre-requisite post-qualifying training and evidence of ability to study and pass modules at Masters level.
Candidates should have two years of post-qualifying professional experience in statutory mental health services, but each candidate will be considered on merit and their potential to utilise their transferable skills where appropriate.
Main duties of the job
In order to apply for a Trainee post, you should have completed, or already have submitted, the Bournemouth University Graduate Certificate in Specialist Practice in Mental Health or equivalent e.g. DSP (Developing Specialist Practice at Masters level).
Other acceptable qualifications include the Bournemouth University Risk and Decision Making in Practice module at Masters level or the Best Interest Assessors qualification at Masters level.As with all candidates, the applicant must be able to demonstrate that they have sufficient evidence of professional practice and academic ability for AMHP training at interview. Any final offer of a Trainee AMHP position will only be given upon evidence of successfully meeting the pre-course requirements and appropriate references.Once in post, the Trainee will work within their locality AMHP team under the supervision of their AMHP Team Manager. The aim is for the Trainee to have the opportunity to experience the role and its complexity in full prior to the course.The Trainee will support duty AMHPs on a variety of MHA assessments, spend time with the Central AMHP Team, provide s.2 reports to Mental Health Tribunals and engage in follow up work with individuals, their families and other professionals.
