We are looking for a Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join our established and proactive team to drive delivery wheelchair services across the London Borough of Enfield.
This post is an integral contributor to the Enfield Wheelchair Service (EWS) team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a highly specialist clinician responsible for a caseload of medium, high and very specialist need service users, leading on clinical assessment and prescription of wheelchairs and associated equipment which are tailored to meet the individuals assessed needs.
Assessments are made via weekly clinic assessments, home visits or venues appropriate to the service user in the community. The therapist will work alone or in conjunction with Rehabilitation Engineers and Special seating engineers, where presenting clinical needs indicate. They will often be the point of contact for service users who contact the service with issues or concerns regarding their wheeled mobility and will respond in a proactive, problem-solving manner, triaging the appropriate response for effective solution.
To be successful you will have excellent communication skills and be able to develop and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues both within and external to the wheelchair service. You will have strong organisation and prioritisation skills with the ability to provide flexible innovation.

- Substantial relevant postgraduate clinical experience.
- Clear evidence of clinical and related knowledge within Wheelchairs and Seating.
- A key knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and medical conditions combined with their effect on mobility.
- Comprehensive tissue viability and management of pressure care knowledge, and management techniques, achieved through formal training.
- Broad knowledge of medicines and surgical interventions and their impact on mobility.
- Knowledge of key safety issues on transport for wheelchairs, accessories and the patients using them, including highways regulations to ensure that patients are aware of the expectations of them to use the equipment provided to them safely.
