An opportunity has arisen to join our forward-thinking Adult Social Care Occupational Therapy Team which covers the beautiful World Heritage City of Bath and surrounding area across Bath and North East Somerset.

We are a friendly and supportive team of OTs and OTAs and are passionate about the service we offer. You will have a comprehensive induction period, regular supervision and the opportunity to attend our Peer Supervision group to share best practice. The role is hybrid, with a mix of office days and working from home days. If you are an experienced and motivated occupational therapist looking to develop your skills as a Social Care Occupational Therapist read on!

Your role

As a Social Care Occupational Therapist your days will be varied and fulfilling and include: 

• Undertaking assessments for adults in their own homes who have complex and long-term physical disabilities, to prevent, reduce or delay the need for care.
• Making recommendations for minor and major home adaptations 
• Assessing for simple and specialised equipment to promote independence and safety at home.
• Carrying out moving and handling risk assessments and promoting single handed care when possible 
• Performing postural management and seating assessments
• Carrying out assessments for re-housing applications
• Providing supervision for occupational therapy aides.

• Supporting OT students/ OT apprentices

About You

You are an experienced occupational therapist with a minimum of 2 years working in  Health or Adult Social Care, and with HCPC registration.

You have knowledge of the legislation that applies to social care practice.

You have strong communication skills and organisational skills.

Due to the nature of the role being a car driver is essential.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

• -Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent professional qualification (eg Dip COT).
• -Registered Occupational Therapist with the appropriate professional body (Health and Care Professions Council).

Desirable

• -Practice Educator Professional Standards Level 2.

Experience

Essential

• -Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in Health or Social Care.
• -Knowledge and understanding of the legislation, statutory guidance and local policy that applies to Occupational therapy practice.
• -Knowledge and experience of assessing needs, advising and facilitating equipment use working in an empowering, person-centred way.
• -Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding principles.
• -Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• -Experience in managing a caseload and prioritising own workload independently.
• -Knowledge and skills in moving and handling.

Desirable

• -Knowledge of Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs).
• -Knowledge of assistive technology.
