Job summary

We are a small practice service c.5,200 patients located in the area of Airedale, Castleford.

Our clinical team currently consists of GPS, an in-house Clinical Pharmacist, an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner, a lead Nurse, two experienced Practice Nurses, one Nurse Associate and a Health Care Support Assistants. The nursing team are highly qualified and provide general and specialist nursing services supported by a friendly and efficient administrative and management team.

We are part of a forward thinking and well-functioning Primary Care Network, Wakefield North PCN who provide a great visiting service and Enhanced Care Team as well as excellent access to Sonographers, Mental Health Practitioners and Pharmacist. In addition to this our organisation has a full infrastructure of support for the practice including finance, people and culture, nursing and quality, digital, IT and performance.

Main duties of the job

We would expect the Clinical Lead GP to become an integral leader of our well-established and effective practice team whilst demonstrating a passion for high quality clinical practice, a commitment to patient care and a drive for continual improvement. The role will require a forward thinking and enthusiastic business minded individual with a deep commitment to our practice ethos and ability to drive clinical excellence.

The role will be part of the wider clinical team responsible for medical services for the practice population and ensuring compliance with the contract requirements working closely with the PCN.

The postholders will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice and be responsible for the effectiveness of the practice working with the organisation's Medical Director and maintaining a positive collaborative working relationship with fellow GPs and the multidisciplinary team.

You will be a GP with full GMC Registration with a licence to practise and entry on the GP Register and you will be included on a Medical Performers List (or eligible). We are looking for excellent patient centred clinicians with a proven ability to handle a busy and varied primary care caseload and respond flexibly to workload fluctuations

Clinical Leadership Responsibilities:

In particular, the post-holder will be responsible for clinical leadership in the following areas:

Developing and embedding robust clinical governance systems, ensuring active participation by all clinical staff

Oversee clinical quality and safety frameworks, ensuring best practice through NICE implementation, significant event reviews and compliance with CQC standardsLead on clinical strategy for the Practice. This will include improvement planning and quality assurance across the practice

Provide supervision for GPs and non- medical prescribers in line with the Practice Clinical Leadership Model.

Engage as a key stakeholder in the PCN to drive latest innovations and effective practice delivery and will develop good working relationships with:
