Pharmacy Technician - HMP Liverpool

Job summary

We are looking for a Pharmacy Technician to come and join our expanding Pharmacy and Medicines Management Team. You would be joining our Prison Based team at HMP Liverpool consisting of 1x Senior Pharmacist, 1x Pharmacist, 1x Lead Pharmacy Technician, 5x Pharmacy Technicians and 2x Pharmacy Assistants.

The team work alongside the Primary Care, Substance Misuse and Inpatient Team to meet patient needs whilst they reside in HMP Liverpool. You will support the team to ensure the completion of medication rounds in the prison, undertake medication reconciliations upon reception to the prison, respond to medication queries, ensure the provision of prescribed and stock medications to the prison population including TTO medications. You will oversee the meds related practices and processes such as the management of controlled drugs and critical medications.

Experience of offender health is helpful however we would welcome an individual who is passionate about working with this vulnerable client group but yet to do so. The role requires excellent communication skills and dynamic work practices. We are looking for somebody who can deliver at least equivalent care to that of the community.   • BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences
  • Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a pharmacy technician

Desirable

  • Appropriate accredited technician checking qualification

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of medicines optimisation issues
  • Pharmacy legal requirements and controlled drug legislation

Desirable

  • Knowledge of pharmacy computer systems
  • Has a good understanding of security issues in relation to the prison environment

Experience

Essential

  • At least 1 year post-qualification experience of working in community/hospital pharmacy
  • Experience of working within challenging and complex situations
