Substance Misuse Nurse Team Leader - County Durham Drug and Alcohol

Job summary

Spectrum are looking for a Nurse Team Leader based at the Centre for Change Drug and Alcohol Centre. The post holder will deliver leadership and management responsibilities for the clinical team.

The post holder will provide clinical supervision and lead MDT to all parts of the service, provide prescribing sessions as needed by service, promote KIP compliance and drive service development to enhance every contact counts approach, encouraging clinical staff to maintain nursing skills as well as prescribing skills.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide governance to the C4C centre and management roles for clinical team
  • Promote flexible working approach to grow every contact counts
  • Provide professional advice to colleagues within the acute services.
  • Promote engagement with OST or alcohol treatments
  • Enhance delivery of community detox options
  • Promote after care medications and engagement with aftercare medications
  • Liaise between acute and community service to enhance service delivery
  • Promote alcohol knowledge and harm reduction with service users and professionals
  • Community detox preparation and engagement, with support from acute and community services.

  • RNA/RNMH/RNLD
  • The post holder is required to be a qualified NMP.

Desirable

  • Educated to diploma level or above
  • Specific misuse qualification (certificate in addiction studies, certificate in management of substance misuse)

Knowledge

Essential

  • Awareness of social context of substance misuse
  • Awareness of the principles of audit
  • Up to date knowledge of relevant prescribing guidelines
  • Understanding of complexities of recovery-oriented substance misuse treatment and the constrictions and opportunities inherent in the primary care sector
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

Desirable

  • Understanding of substance misuse services available in the local public and voluntary services.

  • Previous experience of working with substance misusing clients
