We have an opportunity for two Non-Executive Directors to join our Board, supporting the Chair and Chief Executive in contributing to the strategic direction of the organisation, the wider governance of the Board and representing Spectrum externally.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a candidate who has experience at both Board level and expertise gained either within the legal profession with a focus on partnerships, regulation, assurance and risk or people and organisational development and transformation, who is able to provide valuable independent oversight and constructive challenge.

You will need to be able to commit to 2 - 3 days each month and attend Board and Committee meetings held largely in Spectrum's HQ in Wakefield, West Yorkshire,

The post will be subject to a DBS check and compliance with the Fit and Proper Persons Regulations.

  • Contribute to ensuring Spectrum provides efficient, effective and continually improving healthcare services to its patients.
  • Contribute to identifying growth opportunities for Spectrum, such as new contracts, partnerships and services.
  • Promote the vision, values and objectives of Spectrum Community Health and participate in the development of the organisation's strategic direction and ambitions.
  • Ensure the appropriate governance is in place to safeguard patients and staff.
  • Prepare for, attend, and contribute to the Board meetings, Committees of the Board as agreed with the Chair and Board development activities.
  • Participate in onsite visits and when the occasion requires, represent Spectrum with external stakeholders.

  • Experience of working at a senior level in a complex organisation, with a good understanding of the main components including patient safety, risk management, budgeting, contract management, assurance, control and performance management of its activities
  • Experience of Financial planning and analysis (based around a professional accountancy qualification)
  • Excellent Communicator, with the ability to provide constructive scrutiny and challenge.
  • Demonstrates a genuine commitment to delivering compassionate care to our patients and advocating for those who are most vulnerable.
