An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time, Band 7 Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children and Young People. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and proactive individual to join the corporate Safeguarding team at Spectrum CIC. Our team works within prison healthcare, drug and alcohol services, primary care, and sexual health services.
The Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children and Young People plays a vital leadership role in advocating for children and Young People and ensuring that safeguarding remains a top priority within Spectrum services.
Working closely with the Head of Safeguarding, the Named Nurse will provide leadership, advice, and support on safeguarding matters, ensure compliance with statutory safeguarding requirements, and support the implementation of Spectrums Safeguarding strategy.
Main duties of the job
The Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children and Young People will be a key member of the corporate safeguarding team, working closely with the Head of Safeguarding to support the safeguarding children's agenda across all services to fulfil statutory responsibilities in accordance with the Children Act (1989/2004) and Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023).
This role involves providing expert professional safeguarding advice, providing supervision and support to staff across Spectrum's services, fostering positive relationships with Safeguarding Children Partnerships and other key partners.
As part of the Safeguarding team you will be responsible for providing visible leadership, knowledge and expertise in relation to safeguarding children. The post holder will be expected to support the planning, facilitation and evaluation of a robust training programme that is consistent with the intercollegiate document (Safeguarding Children and Young People roles, and competencies for healthcare staff 2019)
The Safeguarding team primarily uses MS Teams to engage with staff across all business units. However, the post holder will also be required to attend sites when appropriate to build relationships with staff, encourage positive engagement, and deliver training as needed.

- Registered Nurse Part 1 of the NMC Register (Childrens Nurse or mental health nurse) Part 3 as a specialist community public health nurse having completed a specific programme with a child and family focus Have completed specific training in the care of babies/children and young people Relevant 1st level degree qualification or equivalent experience Educated to Master's Level in relevant subject or equivalent experience
- Level 4 Safeguarding Adults Training or willingness to complete on commencement of post. Evidence of continued professional development and training
