Job summary

Are you a dedicated registered Pharmacy Technician looking for a new challenge within a diverse, community setting?

Working in secure healthcare will bring new challenges. The days are varied and there is a wide range of training and development opportunities. You will be part of a wider multi-disciplinary team delivering pharmacy services either on the wings/ house blocks directly with our patients or in the dispensary when required. The role includes the administration and supply of medication to prisoners, medicines optimisation, dispensary activities in some sites and providing advice to other colleagues and prisoners within your competency.

No two days are the same working in our friendly and supportive team.

You must have sound pharmacy knowledge and demonstrate excellent communication skills. You will need a minimum of NVQ level 3 in Pharmacy services and be a registered pharmacy technician. Main duties of the job

The post holder will, under the guidance of the Specialist Prison Pharmacist, assist in the provision of a safe, efficient and cost effective pharmaceutical service to prisoner (hereafter known as service users) within the prison they are working in. This role will also involve providing medicines optimisation, medicines supply and administration, general health education advice and specialist technical services to the service users and healthcare staff. The post holder will assist with dispensing, supplying or administering medication including controlled drugs. They will support the delivery of medicines management services, primary care, health promotion and education.

Knowledge and Skills
