Job summary

Would you like to join our Bank Team to provide Relationship Sexual Education delivery in Schools and Community Settings. If yes, then please apply.

We are looking for someone who has experience of working with young people ages 11-16 and is interested in developing their skills within our positive, evidence-based approach to RSE.

You will work in all secondary schools, academies, and any other appropriate community venues in Wakefield and some cross over in Barnsley.

Main duties of the job

Areas of work will involve delivering targeted group work and one-to-one interventions and support with resource preparation. You will collate the base line data to ensure progress and learning. You will have a drive to improve health equality for young people and understand ways of delivering resilience promoting messages.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Level 3 foundation degree validated by the National Youth Agency (NYA) or substantial relevant experience in youth work plus a qualification or experience in sexual health and the intellectual ability to undertake the role.
  • Achieved Level 2 child protection

Desirable

  • NVQ level 3 in Health with 3 years' contraception and sexual health and or GUM experience and experience of working with young people in young people's settings
  • Professionally qualified under the terms of the JNC

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of Relationships and Sexual health Education in schools and the wider community
  • Current developments in schools and youth work.
  • Equal opportunities and anti-oppressive behaviour

Desirable

  • Awareness of relevant Sex and Relationships Education Guidance. Knowledge of Sexual Health services across the district
  • Understanding public health and education policy around health inequalities.

Experience

Essential

  • Post qualification experience in a formal or an informal education setting (school/college/youth work)

Desirable

  • Diverse youth work: different client groups different settings different styles
  • Working within a PSHE curriculum
  • Previous health promotion experience working with young people.

  • The post holder is expected to show enthusiasm for young people and their aspirations.
  • Able to travel independently around the district.
