Job summary

Dual Trained Clinical Nurse Specialist (qualified in DFSRH and BASHH STI Foundation Intermediate competencies) .

Spectrum is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic nurse to join the clinical team in Barnsley Integrated Sexual Health Service. You will work closely with the Head of Service and Clinical Lead to ensure that there is high quality, evidence based provision of integrated sexual health services across the clinical team.

Barnsley Integrated Sexual Health Service is a small team with aspirations for providing an excellent care model. If you are committed to patient care and enjoy working as part of a close knit team, we would like to hear from you.

You should possess formal BASHH & FSRH qualifications and experience in the delivery of both contraception (including LARCs) & sexually transmitted infection management. Ideally you will have completed your non-medical prescribing course (or willing to work towards).

The post will also include the management of more complex GU/Contraception patients, and those referred in through the Outreach Provision. Main duties of the job

Working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist within Integrated Sexual Health, part of the interdisciplinary team, delivering a high standard of care to patients with a broad range of sexual health and contraception needs, promoting a positive attitude towards sexual health.

You will be based in Barnsley but will be required to work flexibly across all sites when required. If we are unable to recruit a dual trained Clinical Nurse Specialist, we may be open to recruiting a trainee CNS. The following is expected on completion of training.

JOB DIMENSIONS: The post is an integral part of the multidisciplinary team which contributes to the provision of an effective and sexual health service. The post holder will support the Team in the provision of an effective and safe service for the assessment, treatment and education of patients requiring sexual health and contraception provision. This nursing care will be evidenced based and take into consideration the lifestyle, gender, sexual orientation and cultural background of the client group. Accountable to the Head of Service, the nurse will participate in providing an education program and contribute to the professional development of the clinical team.

  • Post Graduate or equivalent experience/portfolio evidence.
  • Holds a recognised teaching course/qualification e.g., ENB 998 or equivalent
  • Holds a Specialist accredited nursing qualification/s in Sexual Health Nursing. i.e., Diploma in Professional Studies in Sexual Health, BSc in Contraception & Sexual Health, or working towards/or equivalent experience
  • LOC Subdermal Contraceptive Implants
