Job summary

Working with our anticoagulation and Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) nursing team, you'll provide skilled clinical care so that people receive safe, timely and effective support during their treatment. You'll work as an autonomous practitioner once competencies are complete, carrying out assessments, investigations and treatment for adults with suspected or confirmed DVT, as well as those on long-term anticoagulation therapy. You'll be part of a supportive service that values evidence-based practice, clear communication and compassionate care.

Main duties of the job

What you'll do:

  • Assess, examine and manage patients with suspected or confirmed DVT
  • Provide clinical care, education and advice for people on anticoagulation therapy
  • Use clinical investigations and national guidance to create safe treatment plans
  • Work closely with colleagues across primary, community and acute care
  • Support service development, audit activity and the training of team members
What we're looking for: We're looking for a Registered Nurse with the skills to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. You might have experience in urgent or unplanned care, autonomous practice or managing complex clinical presentations.   • Experience in a specialist environment, demonstrating effective leadership and autonomy. Previous experience of working in a similar post
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary team working and working with patients with acute medical conditions
  • Experience of the initial management, stabilisation and onward referral of patients who may self-present with more serious/life threatening conditions
  • Previous experience of producing reports or audits
  • Demonstrate experience of utilising a variety of software packages e.g. Patient Centre, SystmOne, E-Mail, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Demonstrate experience of flexible workload
  • Management and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate previous leadership and management within a clinical setting
  • Demonstrate experience and competency in supervision and support of others in prioritisation of patient care e.g. junior staff, non-registered staff and students
