CHCP CIC is offering an exciting Band 6-7 development role to help develop and lead the community voice service within our Adult Speech and Language Therapy team. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow into an advanced clinical position with mentorship, structured competency development and advanced training. We are looking for a therapist with excellent communication skills and proven post graduate experience in working with clients with voice and swallowing disorders to join our team.
Our team works across Hull and East Yorkshire providing adult speech and language therapy across a number of community settings including community inpatient units, clinics, specialist multi disciplinary stroke services, a regular community videofluoroscopy clinic, and domiciliary visits.
Main duties of the job
You will be well supported by senior staff with advanced clinical knowledge in areas of dysphagia and acquired communication difficulties and external clinical voice supervision will be provided to support you whilst developing your band 7 competencies.
As an Advanced Speech and Language Therapist (Development Role), you will:
- Provide specialist assessment and intervention to adults with complex voice, communication and swallowing needs.
- Manage a diverse caseload, triage referrals and deliver evidence based therapy using advanced clinical reasoning.
- Support the community videofluoroscopy service
- Work autonomously within professional guidelines, supported by supervisors and the wider MDT.
- Contribute specialist advice to colleagues, patients and external agencies.
- Support and co ordinate day to day operations within your clinical area.
- Participate in service development, quality improvement, clinical governance and audit.
- Provide clinical supervision, training and mentorship to junior staff, assistants and students.
- Engage in professional networking regionally and nationally.
This role includes working across multiple sites, patient homes, and community settings

- Degree/ Postgraduate qualification leading to licence to practice
- Current Full RCSLT membership including completion of NQP competencies
- Current HCPC registration
- Post graduate Dysphagia qualification and/ or evidence of competence at the specialist/ enhanced level on the RCSLT Dysphagia competencies
- Sound postgraduate experience working with a voice caseload and evidence of completing some voice specialist training e.g. Voice Fit to Practice, Introductory courses to voice therapy
Desirable
- Postgraduate dysphagia qualifications and/or evidence of competence at the highly specialist / Advanced level on the RCSLT dysphagia competencies This may include completion of courses/ competencies related to videofluoroscopy or FEES assessments.
