Infant Feeding Support Worker

Job summary

Job overview The St Helens Wellbeing Team are seeking an Infant Feeding Worker who will work alongside the existing team and partners. The role requires dedication, organisational skills and sensitivity for supporting parents with all aspects infant feeding. This will include knowledge and experience of breastfeeding to effectively support parents with infant feeding, antenatally through to introducing solid foods.

Main duties of the job

Also, to have an ongoing involvement in the wider promotion of breastfeeding throughout the Borough. There will be training on the job but the role will also require good IT and sessions delivery skills. If you feel you have the relevant experience, knowledge and skills, are able to work flexible hours and travel around the borough when required as part of your role, we look forward to hearing from you.

Essential

  • NVQ III in Health and Social Care or equivalent level of experience
  • Diagnosis of Tongue Tie Training (or willingness to work towards)

Desirable

  • Training in breastfeeding management (e.g. Peer Supporter, LLLGB or UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative courses)

Knowledge

Essential

  • An understanding of Partnership working (midwifes, maternity units, etc

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Local Authority, Health and other relevant agencies and structures
  • Knowledge of infant nutrition.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working within a team environment.
  • Experience of developing new practical initiatives relating to health
  • Experience of engage and support individuals and groups
  • Awareness of responsibility to report any concerns immediately to midwife
  • Ability to reinforce professional advice through supporting and encouraging the families in active parenting
