Job summary

We are offering an opportunity for experienced and dedicated Spinal Injury Support Workers to join our new client in Canterbury, working on a 2:1 ratio. Our client is a male in his late 50's with a Spinal Injury following a road traffic accident. He has a catheter and requires daily support with bowel management, cough assist and nebulisers, plus risk of autonomic dysreflexia. To support his independence, we're seeking support workers who are confident, empathetic, and capable of building a strong, trusting relationship, with previous Spinal Injury experience.

Main duties of the job

The Spinal Injury Support Worker will be responsible for assisting with personal care, preparing meals, administering medication, providing emotional support and companionship, supporting with moving and handling, and performing light housekeeping duties. They will work in a team of two to provide 24/7 care and support to the client.

We also have waking and sleeping night shifts available, 8pm-8am, 7 days per week.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience within a similar role, supporting clients with high level spinal cord injury with complex needs.
  • Experience with catheter care, bowel management and/or knowledge of Autonomic Dysreflexia.
  • A valid UK driving licence essential to drive during shift.
  • A caring and compassionate nature
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
