Job summary

They are seeking experienced and dedicated Spinal Injury Support Workers to join their team in Birmingham, working on a 2:1 ratio with clients.

Main duties of the job

The Spinal Injury Support Worker role involves assisting clients with personal care, catheter care, bowel management, respiratory management, medication administration, emotional support, mobility, and light housekeeping duties. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, a caring and compassionate nature, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Spinal Injury Support Worker

Location: Birmingham Salary: £17.00 - £19.00 per hour  Job Type: Zero-hour contract Shifts: 12 hour day shifts & 12 hour night shifts available, 7 days per week.

Role Overview: We are offering an opportunity for experienced and dedicated Spinal Injury Support Workers to join our new client in Birmingham, working on a 2:1 ratio. To support their independence and lifestyle, we’re seeking support workers who are confident, empathetic, and capable of building a strong, trusting relationship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with personal care (washing, dressing, toileting)
  • Catheter Care & Bowel Management
  • Respiratory Management (cough assist/suctioning)
  • Autonomic Dysreflexia Management
  • Preparing meals and supporting with nutrition
  • Administering medication (training provided)
  • Providing emotional support and companionship
  • Supporting with mobility and physical activities
  • Light housekeeping duties

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience within a similar role, supporting clients with Spinal Injury, catheter care and bowel management
  • A caring and compassionate nature
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A valid UK driving licence essential to drive the WAV during shifts essential.
