Job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced General Practitioner (GP)to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team within a secure environment. The role involves delivering high-quality primary care services to a diverse patient population.

As a GP in a secure setting, youll play a vital role in improving health outcomes for individuals who may have complex health and social care needs. Your work will help reduce health inequalities and ensure continuity of care in a challenging but rewarding environment.

Main duties of the job

Provide full GP services including consultations, clinical assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and referrals.

Manage chronic diseases, acute presentations, and mental health conditions.

Contribute to the management of substance misuse and support detox pathways.

Work collaboratively with nursing staff, mental health professionals, pharmacists, and external healthcare providers.

Participate in clinical audits, risk assessments, and safeguarding processes.

Maintain comprehensive clinical records using the prisons electronic health record system.

Take part in clinical governance activities and support continuous quality improvement.

DrPA has been operating in secure environments since 2014 providing General Practitioner services and we are now growing to provide a complete healthcare service at Campsfield House IRC by NHS England. This will be delivered directly or through a range of specialist partners who are experts in their field. We deliver our services based on our ethos of CARE:

Campsfield House IRC

Campsfield House IRC is a secure facility currently designed to accommodate up to 160 male residents in both single and dual occupancy rooms. The centre houses a combination of time-served foreign national offenders and immigration offenders while the Home Office arranges their removal from the UK.

Residents are not permitted to leave the centre or access the local area. Consequently, recreational, educational, healthcare, living, and faith-related facilities are provided entirely onsite.

The healthcare department provides a range of services including primary care, mental health, substance misuse, pharmacy, dental, optometry, physiotherapy, podiatry, and audiology delivered either by us or our specialist partners.

Join us at the beginningWhere possible, this role will be starting before the centre opens. During this period, you will be undertaking your company and centre induction, supporting setting up the department, helping where required, and generally supporting the service to go live as prepared as we can be.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a secure healthcare environment, secure units, or with vulnerable populations.
  • Additional qualifications in substance misuse, mental health, or sexual health.
  • Knowledge of relevant NHS and prison healthcare policies and procedures.
