Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Orthotist to join our existing team in Yorkshire.

The Role:

To provide high quality Orthotic care, developing a wide range of knowledge and experience. This role will allow you the opportunity to specialise in specific areas of Orthotics as your experience grows.

You will gradually build up your patient caseload, increasing it with time and experience, continually being supported by the rest of the team whilst also having a designated mentor as part of our Preceptorship program, until you carry a full clinic covering all areas of orthotics.

Main duties of the job

An in-depth knowledge of pathologies commonly seen in Orthotic clinics, their presentation and long-term prognosis.

Have logical and thorough assessment skills to build a structured and detailed picture of the patient.

The ability to positively interact with patients, use assessment and examination skills to recognise underlying pathologies and risk factors to understand their orthotic needs.

Use the knowledge gained in assessment and diagnosis to prescribe an orthosis that best meets the functional needs and wishes of the patient and form a treatment plan.

The ability to take accurate measurements, outlines and casts of the patient to allow easy and accurate manufacture for all types of orthoses.

An understanding of the different aspects and processes involved in the manufacture of different orthoses.

Have a knowledge of materials used within Orthotics, their uses, variations and the manufacturing processes involved in their use.

The ability to fit and supply a range of commonly prescribed orthoses

Be aware of the Companys Quality system and ensure that all paperwork and job sheets are filled out correctly, legibly and promptly.

To abide by the Companys health and safety policy while working in the workshop, stores and plaster room ensuring your own safety and that of your colleagues.
