Job summary

To support the Combined Services Manager in the running of the Prosthetic Department and to manage the day-to-day activities of the Prosthetic team.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities:

Operation management of prosthetic clinics developing close links with prosthetists, the wider multidisciplinary team, workshop and admin managers to deliver quality, on time services

Monitor prosthetic prescriptions, processes and budgets

Take responsibility for a small caseload of complex patients

Co-ordinate preceptorship, training and clinical supervision of the prosthetists

Lead on improvement projects and attend departmental meetings

Job responsibilities

scope

Ensure effective and efficient running of prosthetic clinics on a daily basis. This will require developing close links with prosthetists, consultants, workshop and admin manager to ensure clinical time is maximized and patient waiting lists and delivery times are effectively managed.

Monitor all clinicians product usage against budget and OPU targets

Allocation/reallocation of patients as necessary, and to manage and review active patient numbers so that clinical experience and balance is maintained within the team as appropriate.

Co-ordinate clinical training for prosthetists. responsibilities to include organizing relevant clinical training, both internally and externally, in line with service needs.

Ensure clinical staff undertake and maintain their ESR and/or iHasco training as appropriate.

Ensure clinical staff undergo regular clinical supervision and appraisals and monitor any follow-up actions.

Investigate and report on patient complaints in line with Company and Trust procedures.

Lead on clinical projects e.g. Audit, introduction of new products/trials, clinical R&D

Attend meetings as appropriate. MDT, user group etc.

Lead on clinical protocols and pathways design and implementation so that patient experience is maximized

To be an active member of the local Steeper management team. The local team is the Combined Service Manager, Prosthetic Clinical Manager, Principal Orthotist, Admin Manager and Workshop Manager.

Ensure that all prostheses produced meet the safety and quality procedures laid down by the company and manufacturers.

To manage the Work in Progress to ensure the companys cash flow is maintained and jobs are cleared and invoiced promptly.

To liaise with the Workshop Manager to ensure production flows efficiently and is of the highest standard.

To show leadership qualities for your team and show and encourage a culture for continual improvement in both clinical and interpersonal skills.

To participate in all activities as required or directed by Branch manager or another member of the company senior management team.
