Job summary
Volunteer Event First Aiders support the delivery of safe, compassionate first aid and welfare services at community and charity events across the North East of England. The role is ideal for individuals who want to give back to their community, gain valuable experience, or build skills for a future career in healthcare, emergency services, or social care.
No previous experience is required. Full training, supervision, uniform, and equipment are provided. Volunteers work as part of a supportive event medical team, offering first aid, reassurance, and assistance to members of the public in line with agreed procedures.
This role provides excellent CV-building experience, helping volunteers develop confidence, communication skills, teamwork, and real-world experience in a healthcare environment, while making a meaningful contribution to local communities.

Main duties of the job
- Provide basic first aid and initial care to members of the public at events
- Offer reassurance, welfare support, and clear communication to individuals who are unwell, injured, or distressed
- Assist with minor injuries and illnesses under appropriate supervision
- Recognise deteriorating conditions and escalate concerns promptly to senior clinical staff
- Support safeguarding and vulnerable person processes
- Accurately record care and incidents using agreed documentation systems
- Work collaboratively with other volunteers, clinical staff, event organisers, and emergency services
- Follow training, policies, and procedures at all times
- Act in a professional, calm, and compassionate manner, representing the service positively
