Trainee Event Medical First Responder

Job summary

Join XL Team as the first line of medical support at public events across the region. Our Trainee Responders receive free, high-quality internal training to deliver life-saving basic care, including AED use, oxygen therapy and first-response assessment. Youll work as part of a friendly, professional clinical team supporting treatment centres, foot patrols and incident responses at a wide variety of events. Uniform and equipment provided (boots not included). A full UK manual driving licence (held 12+ months) is required. Trainee Event Medical Responders form the frontline of XL Teams event medical provision. Following completion of our internal Event Responder Course, they are responsible for delivering the initial response to medical incidents at public events, providing life-saving assessment and treatment within their defined clinical scope of practice. Responders support a wide range of events, staffing treatment centres, responding to incidents across event sites, and working closely with Ambulance Crews, Paramedics, Nurses, Doctors and other partner agencies to ensure a safe and effective medical service. This is an excellent entry-point role for individuals wishing to begin or progress a career in the pre-hospital or emergency care sector.

Main duties of the job

Clinical
  • Apply all knowledge and skills acquired in training to deliver care within the defined clinical scope of practice.
  • Deliver Basic Life Support (BLS), including safe use of AEDs and Emergency Oxygen
  • Assess patients to determine the nature and severity of illness or injury and escalate instantly when required
  • Administer initial treatment for minor injuries and support senior clinicians with more serious cases
  • Staff on-site medical centres, roaming foot patrols, and response locations as directed
  • Complete all Patient Report Forms (PRFs) and associated documentation accurately, legibly, and promptly

Operational
  • Respond to emergency and non-emergency requests calmly, efficiently and professionally
  • Handle radio communications with accuracy and confidentiality, following all information security protocols
  • Maintain readiness by cleaning, organising and restocking kits and equipment after each use

Professional
  • Conduct yourself courteously, helpfully and professionally at all times
  • Uphold patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality in accordance with legal and organisational requirements
  • Actively participate in all mandatory e-learning, CPD, simulations, and ongoing training
  • Ensure all certifications and training records remain valid and up-to-date
  • Work flexibly shift times vary depending on event requirements, including evenings, weekends and long durations on foot
