Job summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Specialist
Occupational Health Nurse to join our team and help us continue to deliver
exceptional care to our clients providing occupational health clinical services to our clients including case
management assessments, pre-commencement health assessments, vaccination and phlebotomy
clinics, health surveillance activities, and health promotion.
We offer hybrid
working, and clinics will be based from home, from our offices in Portsmouth,
and onsite with our clients in the local area.
Full time or part time working is offered.
Main duties of the job
As
a Specialist Occupational Health Nurse, you will be required to:
- Conduct
case management assessments.
- Conduct
health assessments: pre-employment health assessments, health surveillance, and
periodic health assessments.
- Deliver
health promotion activities: delivery of individual and group health promotion
activities.
- Undertake
vaccination and phlebotomy services.
- Work
with the Director of Specialist Nursing to develop, monitor and review
occupational health and relevant organisational policies and procedures to
ensure that they are fit for purpose and are legally compliant.
- Maintain
accurate clinical records, medical confidentiality and work within GDPR.
- Ensure
that equipment is maintained, calibrated and safe for use.

- To contribute to the delivery of safe, effective, efficient, economical and ethical service provision that adds value to those Cordell Health provides services for.
- Work in partnership with clients, clinical colleagues and the Cordell Health management team to promote health and productivity in client companies.
- Help people with health conditions or disabilities into work, and to stay in work.
- To work with the Director of Specialist Nursing and Medical Director to ensure that the Company operates within an approved and validated clinical and management framework and adopts best clinical and management practice.
- Identify and champion best practice with the field of occupational health.
- Identify opportunities for enhancements through use of technology
General Responsibilities
- Develop day-to-day interface with relevant external/internal agencies as applicable to Cordell Health and client companies business strategy.
- Provide specialist advice to client companies and especially the line managers in these client companies on occupational health and wellbeing matters.
- Organise and participate in pre-employment health assessments and health surveillance programmes for staff identified as needing this on risk assessment.
- Ensuring all Cordell Health and other equipment provided for the OHA role is maintained, calibrated and safe for use, in line with purchasing guidelines.
- To carry out case management as set out in Cordell Health policies.
- Act as mentor to general nurses, OH technicians and placement students as required.
- To carry out the Company's activities to agreed performance indicators for operational and service delivery, meeting quality and legislative standards.
- Champion the Cordell Health Equal Opportunities Policy.
- Take responsibility for own personal development and update knowledge and skills, with support from Cordell Health and as identified through appraisal, to perform the role at an effective level and meet NMC regulatory requirements.
- Undertake such training as identified in the personal development plan identified at annual appraisal (mandatory) to improve personal performance and knowledge.
