Innovations in Care provide support to adults with Learning Disabilities and complex Mental Health needs in their own home and are looking for people who share our values to join our team. We are specifically looking for experienced Support Workers to work with our clients with challenging behaviour.
This can be a challenging but rewarding job so some experience in adult care and managing challenging behaviour is essential.
Main duties of the job
You will support and empower our clients to improve their quality of life, and exercise their right to have more control over their life. You will help them to identify their goals, pursue their hobbies and interests and to live independently in their own community.
Your duties and responsibilities will vary day by day, according to the client's needs.
The working hours for this position are 9am-9am including a sleep shift 11pm-7am

Job responsibilities
- To provide support in all areas of personal, domestic and social need, both in the centre and in peoples homes in the community, in accordance with their agreed support plan and within an agreed plan of risk taking
- To assist with personal care needs of individuals as necessary, including moving and handling & nutrition
- To facilitate increased independence by encouraging and supporting participation in daily living activities and opportunities
- To work with people, their families, team members and partner organisations to ensure that support is tailored to meet their individual needs and wishes
- To use a range of communication methods to assist people to make informed decisions and choices about the issues affecting their lives
- To contribute to the smooth running of the persons home through effective communication with the people living in the home, the staff team, family members and professional agencies
- To be familiar with and work within the organisation and service values, policies and procedures, maintaining records and reports accordingly
- To preserve and respect the dignity and privacy of people and their families and observe confidentiality at all times
- To attend and participate in team meetings, supervisions, appraisals and training as requested and required by your manager
- To follow best practice guidance regarding safeguarding, care standards, health and safety and managing risks legislation to promote independence
- To be aware of actual or potential factors within the environment which can be either beneficial or harmful and take appropriate action as necessary and required in accordance with agreed policies, health and safety, risk management etc.
- To undertake flexible working arrangements in accordance with members and service requirements (including weekends, evenings, nights and sleep ins)
- To support anti-discrimination policies and procedures and promote equality of opportunity at all times
- To undertake such additional duties appropriate to the post and to support the organisations wider goals by working flexibly across the organisation from time to time as determined by your manager
- Successfully complete the Care Certificate and personal development programme
- To act as a key worker for designated individuals
- To report any significant issues, notifiable events or concerns through line management channels
- Responsibility for limiting actions to those which you feel competent to undertake. Any doubts about competence during the course of duties should immediately be discussed with the manager
- To show flexibility and a positive approach as services change and develop. Similarly, to the changing needs of the people.
