We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Mental Health Support Worker to join our team. This role involves providing support to a client with complex emotional needs, including day shifts and sleep shifts.

Main duties of the job

Offering empathetic and non-judgmental support to the client, actively listening to their concerns, and promoting a safe and trusting environment. Assisting with daily living activities: Supporting the client in managing their personal care, medication management, and daily routines to promote their well-being and independence. Crisis intervention: Being prepared to handle and de-escalate crisis situations, utilising appropriate techniques and following established protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of the client.

Responsibilities:

- Provide person-cantered support to a client with complex emotional needs, promoting their well-being and independence.

- Assist the client with daily activities, including personal care, medication administration, and meal preparation.

- Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, ensuring individual needs and goals are met.

- Foster a therapeutic and supportive environment, promoting trust, dignity, and respect.

- Monitor the client's emotional state and behaviour, recognising and responding to any changes or concerns.

- Document interactions and incidents accurately and promptly, maintaining clear and concise records.

- Collaborate effectively with the client's support network, including family members, mental health professionals, and other support staff.

- Support the client during sleep shifts, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the night.

- Provide emotional support and crisis intervention when needed, following established protocols and guidelines.

- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and supervision to enhance knowledge and skills in mental health support.

Requirements:

- Experience working in a mental health support role, preferably with individuals with complex emotional needs.

  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including weekends.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in a mental health support environment is essential.
  • Willingness to complete work related training as and when required.

Desirable

  • A relevant qualification in mental health, social care, psychology, or a related field is desirable. Successful applicants will be required to complete a Level 2 qualification if not already held
