Job summary
We are seeking a Senior Cardiac Physiologist (equivalent
to NHS AFC Band 7).Working at Cleveland Clinic London, you will work
autonomously performing the majority of your role within Invasive cardiology,
specifically Electrophysiology (EP).
We will require you to be competent in all areas of EP/ablation
studies including 3D mapping. Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) will also be incorporated
into this role and ideally be independent for implant, follow-up of ILRs, pacemakers,
ICDs, CRT devices. Cleveland Clinic London has 3 cardiac catheter labs
including a hybrid lab for structural intervention.

development. Training and education will be embedded into the department
infrastructure. Flexible working can be offered via a 4-day working week with a
potential on-call commitment paid at competitive rates.
Formal EP accreditation required (IBHRE, BHRS or CEPIA). AHCS
clinical physiologist / HCPC clinical scientist equivalence is encouraged. There
are opportunities to be involved in research and development. We also provide

projects including service improvement and quality assurance.

Main duties of the job
- Non-Invasive Cardiology: Independent delivery of ECG Holters, ambulatory blood pressure and
event recorders from fitting, removal and analysis providing a technical
report.
- Independently
undertakes complex device follow up and interpretation Inc. pacemakers, ILRs,
CRT and ICDs.
- Solo
proficient in either EP/ablation +-CRM implantation Inc. pacemakers, ILR, CRT
and ICDs.
- Invasive
Cardiology: Assists the delivery of EP services in collaboration with lead
cardiac Physiologists. Undertakes PCI, right heart caths and associated specialist
equipment i.e. IABP, IVUS, FFR, rotablation, shockwave and temp wires.
- Assists
the delivery of Cardiac Physiology duties in TAVI, mitraclip and structural interventions
such as ASD and PFO closures.
- Participate to a high level of competency, majority of the role within Invasive cardiac
physiology, required to concentrate for long periods of time (for periods in
excess of >4 hours for invasive procedures).
- Interpret technical information/data from patient investigations and prepares reports,
bringing any clinically significant findings to the attention of the
consultant.
- Assist the Lead Cardiac Physiologists in a programme of training in the Department, to
ensure all trainee physiologists are trained to the highest standard in
cardiology techniques.
- Liaises
with the Biomedical Engineering Department to ensure that all non-disposable
equipment particularly within the cardiology department is kept operational and
maintained appropriately.

The future post holder would work as part of a multidisciplinary
team consisting of physiologists, clinical scientists, nurses, consultants,
surgeons, porters, managers and administrators. They will report directly to
the Lead Cardiac Physiologists.
Clinical operations take place at Cleveland Clinical London (Monday-Friday,
8am to 8pm). This is a full time post, however working hours/days are flexible and
as a result there are opportunities to work long and short days. The exact
details can be discussed with the lead cardiac physiologists and the clinical team
as part of the appointment process, however invasive timings will be the result
of cath lab case scheduling.
Responsibilities will include:
- Providing technical support to all wards for non-invasive throughout the hospital and
maintains cardiology related stock levels in all the aforementioned areas.
- Lead on ETTs, who may have pacemaker/ICDs in situ.
- During
all cardiac investigations where the patient is at immediate risk of arrhythmia
or arrest, monitors patients ECG, reports immediately in the event of any
rhythm change/arrest and responds immediately to rescue the patient (provides
life support /external defibrillation).
- Participates
in Cardiology Department meetings providing input to the development of
policies and investigation procedures for the Department. Assists in the implementation of these
policies.
- Participate
on emergency on-call out of hours rota, if required and when trained.
- Participates
in departmental stock control and assists in ensuring that there is adequate
stock for the Cardiology Department.
- Enter data into the departmental databases including systems such as PaceArt, Epic,
MUSE, syngodynamics, CardioLab, Cardioday, Cardiosoft. Enters reports on cardiac investigations
performed onto any other relevant computer-based system. Checks all entered
patients details to allow efficient tracking of results.
