Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nurse Unit Manager (RGN/RMN/RNLD) to join Otterburn, a specialist care home in Birmingham, West Midlands for adults living with complex and high acuity needs.

Otterburn complex needs care home specialises in supporting adults living with dementia, complex mental health needs and neuro-disabilities including Huntingtons disease and strokes.

We require a full time reliable, energetic Registered Nurse to work as part of our team. Full flexibility required across a 7 day week including 12 hour shifts.

Main duties of the job

Clinical - to promote and maintain clinical standards within the unit in the home to the satisfaction of the Company and relevant statutory bodies and demonstrate willingness for continued self-development in a professional capacity.

Resource Management - to utilise all company resources in a manner which achieves customer satisfaction and cost effectiveness

General Management - to provide complementary, competent and effective general management support and cover

The post holder will contribute to ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements for quality and safety and meets CQC expectations.

We are looking for experienced tracheostomy trained nurses or nurses who are willing to be trained and signed off as competent to work on the Tracheostomy Unit. You will lead by example, delivering hands-on nursing care. You will have a person centred ethos and be committed to enriching the lives of the individuals in your care.

As we are committed to providing the best care and support to all our Service Users, the average ratio of staff in this Home is 5 Support Workers to every Nurse.

About the role

As a Unit Manager with Exemplar Health Care, you'll be at the forefront of clinical care delivery for the people living on your designated unit.

No two days will ever be the same, but your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • leading your units care and nursing teams to ensure we meet the medical, physical and emotional needs of the people we support
  • providing strong leadership to maintain and continuously develop high standards of care and drive continuous improvement
  • overseeing and managing all your units clinical elements and risks
  • ensuring care plans and risk assessmentsare completed and reviewed in a timely manner and reflect care interventions appropriately
  • acting as the Named Nurse for residents allocated to you, with responsibility for the oversight, review and update of their care profiles
  • the supervision and management of your units ordering, handling, storage, administration, recording and disposal ofmedication.
