Orthopaedic Advanced Practitioner Outpatient Department Fitzwilliam Hospital Peterborough - Full time

The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Outpatient Department as Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioner. The team you would be joining provide crucial, specialised care and management to patients in all areas of orthopaedics. You will be providing specialised care to patients in orthopaedics including hip and knee replacements.

Experience

Essential

• Prescribe medication to patient
• Be able to request and interpret X-rays
• Must have Orthopaedic experience
• Manage Follow up patients appointment
• Work closely with consultants
• Experience of frailty and the ageing process and its impact on patients physical, psychological and social needs and care needs and common orthopaedic problems
• Work within agreed national and local procedures and guideline
• Undertake advanced MSK/Orthopaedic physical assessment and history taking in order to reach diagnosis and management plan for healthcare problems and conditions
• Request/perform diagnostic interventions, treatments as required, initiating appropriate management
• Critically analyse and synthesize complex assessment data for sound decision making
• Manage medications including assessment, review and prescribing in accordance with current legislation, local guideline and policies
• Evaluate responses to treatment and initiating changes as required
• Initiate and co-ordinate the treatment and education for individuals and their families and carers for their health protection, health promotion and disease prevention
• Improve patient outcomes, service delivery and quality of care by bench marking national standard and implementing into practice
• Acknowledge limitations in knowledge, referring to senior medical staff when scope of practice is exceeded.
• Make referrals of patients to and receive referrals from other healthcare providers to ensure continuous care
• Initiate, contribute to and/or sustain research to promote-evidence-based practice
• Evaluate practice to ensure professional, ethical, equitable, and quality healthcare service is provided.

• IMMER Qualification/Course
• Nurse Practitioner level.
• Work within a primary care environment and/or secondary care environment as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner
• Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently
• Flexible and positive attitude
• A warm, considerate and empathetic character
