We are looking for experienced Clinical Audiologists to join our Sussex team on a zero-hours basis. This is more than a traditional audiology role you will be a vital part of an agile, community-based service delivering efficient, patient-centred outpatient care in line with national guidelines and UKAS IQIPS standards.

Your specialist skills will support high-quality diagnostic assessment, hearing aid provision, and rehabilitation services, ensuring patients receive timely, effective care closer to home. Main duties of the job

This is a dynamic, patient-focused clinical role delivering high-quality audiology services within community settings. You will work autonomously while maintaining the highest professional and technical standards.

You will adhere to best practice audiology techniques and national standards, ensuring patients receive appropriate, evidence-based care.

Key responsibilities include:

Conducting diagnostic hearing assessments for patients referred via GP

Selecting, fitting, and programming appropriate hearing aids using Real Ear Measurements (REM)

Providing patient and carer education on hearing loss, hearing aid use, and maintenance

Conducting follow-up appointments to assess benefit and provide further rehabilitation where required

Undertaking reassessment appointments where hearing has deteriorated

Managing hearing aid repairs and maintenance clinics

Carrying out domiciliary visits where required

Escalating complex cases appropriately and working collaboratively with wider healthcare teams

You will need strong clinical expertise, professionalism, and the ability to work independently within community clinics while maintaining a patient-centred approach. Our Audiology service is UKAS IQIPS accredited and supported by an experienced multidisciplinary workforce.

Our service offer includes:

Over 15 years of experience delivering community outpatient services

Partnerships with ICBs and hospital providers

A diverse clinical workforce including consultants, GPs with extended roles, specialist nurses and allied health professionals

Delivery of over 120,000 patient consultations per year

First consultations within a maximum of four weeks from referral

Seven-day service provision from community locations

Knowledge

  • BSc Audiology, Postgraduate Diploma in Audiology, or pre-2004 MPPM B-TEC with BAAT Part I & II and Clinical Certificate of Competency.
  • Registered with HCPC as a Clinical Scientist in Audiology, Registered Hearing Aid Dispenser, or registered with the RCCP voluntary register (as applicable to regulatory requirements).
  • Evidence of recognised training and CPD in hearing assessment and rehabilitation.
  • Experience with objective measurements of DSP hearing aids.
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment, preferably within Primary or Secondary Care.
  • Proficient in using PCs, clinical software, and patient management systems.
