Job summary

As a part time Non-Resident Oncology Fellow, you will provide clinical and medical support to the patients on the Oncology ward, and Outpatient Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy Units, through the provision of general patient care and medical procedures.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the clinical care and supervision of Oncology inpatients and outpatients, conducting assessment and clinical evaluations (Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy) in conjunction with the Consultants and multidisciplinary teams, including rewriting of drug charts, writing up TTOs etc. Work closely with the Consultants and nursing staff to support patient treatments and management of symptom control, as appropriate. Support management of acute oncological conditions including neutropenia sepsis, treatment related toxicities and other oncological emergencies.

Non-Resident Fellow Oncology (0.5 WTE / 22 Hours per Week)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Non-Resident Fellow (0.5 WTE, approximately 22 hours per week) to join our Oncology team at The London Clinic, located in Central London (close to Regents Park and Baker Street tube stations).

This role is based within our state-of-the-art Cancer Centre and offers a highly competitive salary, with the potential for additional funding and support for educational and training fees. We are also open to a job-share arrangement (e.g. one week on, one week off), making this an ideal opportunity for candidates wishing to pursue research or higher degrees alongside clinical practice.

Oncology services are delivered by a well-established multidisciplinary team, including 4 Resident Oncology Fellows and 6 Non-Resident medical staff working Monday to Friday. This is further supported by an Intensive Care Fellow covering our 13-bed ITU, along with 4 Resident Fellows (RMOs) providing 24/7 cover for non-oncology/haematology patients, and additional Non-Resident Fellows supporting this service.

Hours: Approximately 22 hours per week

Working patterns are flexible and agreed in advance, with options including:

  • 23 full working days per week, or

  • a job-share / alternating week arrangement

Saturday working is pro-rated (approximately 1 in 8).

  • Full GMC Registration with License to Practice as well as an MBBS or equivalent as well as an Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Intermediate Life support qualification.
  • Completion of General Medical Training (FY1/2) with post qualification medical/surgical experience.
