The Role You will provide expert palliative and symptom control support to patients with life limiting illness, ensuring care is holistic, evidence based and aligned to best practice. Key responsibilities include:
Undertaking comprehensive holistic assessments across inpatient and outpatient settingsLeading on specialist symptom control and supportive care planningSupporting patients and families with complex and sensitive conversations regarding prognosis and advance care planningActing as patient advocate within MDT meetingsParticipating in daily ward rounds for patients on the palliative and symptom control caseloadSupporting effective discharge planning into community servicesContributing to audit, service development and quality improvement initiativesActing as a clinical resource and role model to ward based teams This role requires strong autonomous practice alongside collaborative multidisciplinary working. You will also participate in the on-call rota in line with service needs. What We Are Looking For
NMC registrationSignificant post registration experience within acute oncologyMinimum 1-year experience as a Palliative Care CNS/Senior band 6/7 levelDemonstrable expertise in symptom control and end of life careAdvanced communication skills with confidence managing complex discussionsLeadership or management qualificationExperience in audit, research and service improvement Why Join Us The Duchess of Devonshire Wing is recognised for delivering high quality specialist cancer care in a consultant led environment.
