The role We are seeking an experienced and motivated Scrub Nurse to join our Minimally Invasive Treatment Unit (MITU) at The London Clinic. The MITU is a dedicated day case theatre, supporting a wide range of Ophthalmology, Plastics, Gynaecology, and Urology procedures. This is a fast-paced environment focused on providing exceptional care for patients undergoing same-day surgery. As a Scrub Nurse in MITU, you will play a vital role in supporting consultants during procedures, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and infection control. You will work closely with a skilled multidisciplinary team that values precision, efficiency, and collaboration to deliver seamless surgical care. Key Duties

  • Prepare, assemble, and check surgical instruments, equipment, and consumables for a range of procedures, ensuring readiness for each surgical list.
  • Undertake the scrub role in a professional and proficient manner, including completing all mandatory surgical checks.
  • Support safe patient positioning and transfer before, during, and after procedures.
  • Act in the circulating role when required, maintaining safe and efficient theatre operations.
  • Maintain stock control and ensure equipment is in optimal working order.
  • Contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives and share ideas for service development.
  • Support and mentor junior colleagues, acting as a positive role model within the team.
  • Skills and Experience
  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
  • Proven scrub experience within Ophthalmology, Plastics, Gynaecology, or Urology
  • Minimum of one year's post-registration theatre experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexible, organised, and able to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
