Job summary

This is an excellent opportunity for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join a specialist Orthopaedic and Spinal Surgery ward within a supportive and professional inpatient setting. The role offers the chance to deliver high quality, evidence based care while developing clinical confidence, leadership skills and specialist knowledge within a collaborative multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

The Band 5 Staff Nurse will provide safe, effective and evidence based nursing care to orthopaedic and spinal patients, working autonomously and as part of the wider multidisciplinary team. Duties include managing a clinical workload, recognising and responding to clinical deterioration, supporting junior staff and students, and contributing to patient education and discharge planning. The role also involves taking charge of the ward as required, supporting audits, incident reporting and quality improvement initiatives, and acting as a professional ambassador for nursing within the Clinic.

The role This is a clinical role for a motivated and patient focused Band 5 Staff Nurse with experience or a strong interest in orthopaedic and spinal surgery. The post holder will deliver high quality inpatient care while supporting the smooth running of the ward and contributing to a positive and professional team culture. There will be opportunities to take charge of shifts, develop leadership skills and participate in practice development and governance activity. Key responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality, evidence-based nursing care to orthopaedic and spinal surgery patients
  • Manage and prioritise a clinical workload within an acute inpatient setting
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to clinical deterioration
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to support patient care and discharge planning
  • Take charge of the ward as required and support day to day ward operations
  • Support and mentor student nurses and junior staff
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to governance and safety standards

  • Ideal candidate You will be a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration who is passionate about delivering high quality patient care within an acute inpatient setting. You will have experience or a genuine interest in orthopaedic and spinal surgery and enjoy working as part of a close-knit multidisciplinary team. You will bring strong clinical assessment skills, a calm and organised approach to care, and the confidence to recognise and respond to patient needs. With good communication skills and a positive attitude, you will be keen to develop your clinical expertise and grow your career within a supportive and specialist surgical environment.   • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
  • Experience working in an acute inpatient setting
  • Experience in orthopaedic or spinal surgery nursing
