We are looking for an experienced Scrub Nurse to join our Minimally Invasive Treatment Unit (MITU) at The London Clinic. This is a dedicated day case theatre specialising in Ophthalmology, Plastics, Gynaecology, and Urology. The role offers the opportunity to work alongside leading consultants in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment that values clinical excellence, teamwork, and personalised care.
Main duties of the job
You will prepare the operating theatre and equipment for a range of day case procedures, ensuring all instruments are available, sterilised, and ready for use. You will scrub for surgeries across Ophthalmology, Plastics, Gynaecology, and Urology, providing skilled assistance to consultants throughout each procedure. The role also involves maintaining accurate surgical counts, adhering to strict infection control and patient safety protocols, and ensuring smooth turnaround between cases to support the efficient running of the theatre list. You will contribute to the pre and post-operative care of patients, assist with clinical documentation, and support the ongoing quality improvement of the unit by promoting best practice and teamwork.

The role We are seeking an experienced and motivated Scrub Nurse to join our Minimally Invasive Treatment Unit (MITU) at The London Clinic. The MITU is a dedicated day case theatre, supporting a wide range of Ophthalmology, Plastics, Gynaecology, and Urology procedures. This is a fast-paced environment focused on providing exceptional care for patients undergoing same-day surgery. As a Scrub Nurse in MITU, you will play a vital role in supporting consultants during procedures, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and infection control. You will work closely with a skilled multidisciplinary team that values precision, efficiency, and collaboration to deliver seamless surgical care. Key Duties
Prepare, assemble, and check surgical instruments, equipment, and consumables for a range of procedures, ensuring readiness for each surgical list.Undertake the scrub role in a professional and proficient manner, including completing all mandatory surgical checks.Support safe patient positioning and transfer before, during, and after procedures.Act in the circulating role when required, maintaining safe and efficient theatre operations.Maintain stock control and ensure equipment is in optimal working order.Contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives and share ideas for service development.Support and mentor junior colleagues, acting as a positive role model within the team. Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).Proven scrub experience within Ophthalmology, Plastics, Gynaecology, or UrologyMinimum of one year's post-registration theatre experience.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.Flexible, organised, and able to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
