Job summary

* Assist in the preparation and support of patients attending the Oncology Outpatients department, including those receiving chemotherapy and other cancer-related treatments. * Provide basic care to patients, including assistance with mobility, personal care, comfort measures, and nutritional needs. * Monitor and report patient observations, changes in condition, or concerns to the Registered Nurse or other relevant team members promptly.

Main duties of the job

The Healthcare Assistant will work as an integral member of the Oncology Outpatients team, providing safe, compassionate, and high-quality care to patients attending for consultations, investigations, and treatments. This role will support Registered Nurses and the wider multi-disciplinary team in delivering patient-focused care in line with The London Clinic's values and professional standards.

Job Title: HCA Salary: £29,284 - £33,445 - Depending on experience Band: Band 3 Department: Oncology Outpatients Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday About Us: The London Clinic is one of the UK's largest independently owned non-profit hospital, and we have been providing exceptional care since 1932. The Role: We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join our dedicated Oncology Outpatients team at The London Clinic. This is a patient-facing role where you will provide high-quality, compassionate care to individuals attending the department for consultations, investigations, and treatments. Working closely with our specialist nurses and multi-disciplinary colleagues, you will help prepare patients for their appointments, support them during treatments, and assist in maintaining a calm, safe, and supportive environment. This is a role where your care and attention can make a genuine difference to people at a challenging time in their lives. Key Duties:

  • Welcome and support patients attending for oncology treatments and consultations
  • Provide assistance with personal care, mobility, comfort, and nutritional needs
  • Monitor and report patient observations to the nursing team
  • Prepare treatment areas, equipment, and materials for clinical procedures
  • Work in accordance with infection prevention and control standards
  • Maintain accurate records of care provided
  • Help to ensure the department remains clean, well-organised, and stocked
    • Skills and Experience:
  • Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant in a hospital or clinical setting is essential
  • Experience in oncology or outpatient care is desirable, but not essential
  • A caring and patient-focused approach, with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Care Certificate or NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care, or willingness to work towards this
