Job summary
This full time Band 6 role sits within the Operating Theatres, supporting the delivery of elective gynaecology and urology surgery. The Senior Theatre Scrub Practitioner will provide expert scrub practice, contribute to the safe and efficient running of theatre lists, and support high standards of perioperative care within a well governed theatre environment.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work as a Senior Theatre Scrub Practitioner within the Gynaecology and Urology Theatre team, providing safe, high quality perioperative care across elective surgical lists. Responsibilities include acting as scrub practitioner for complex procedures, preparing and managing specialist instruments, implants and consumables, and ensuring all mandatory surgical safety checks are completed. The role involves coordinating activity within the operating theatre to support the efficient running of lists, working closely with Consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team. The post holder will also act in the circulating role as required, support the supervision and development of junior staff, contribute to clinical governance and service improvement activity, and participate in the on call rota where required.
