Biomedical Scientist - Blood Sciences We have an exciting opportunity for a Biomedical Scientist to join our Blood Sciences team within our Pathology Department based at The London Clinic in Central London, W1G 6BW, with a competitive salary range on offer.

Job Profile

As a Biomedical Scientist you will carry out / supervise technical and scientific work in the laboratory under the direction of the Chief/Senior Biomedical Scientist or Consultant. You will work alongside the Blood Sciences team members and leaders to cultivate and maintain a culture in which staff are continuously improving the delivery of a high quality, efficient and effective services.

  • Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week.
  • Shifts: Monday to Friday with 1 in 4 Saturday Shifts, you will also be expected to participate on the Out of Hours rota.

  • Key Duties
  • Undertake routine and specialist laboratory techniques in line with department standard operating procedures.
  • Record information on the pathology laboratory information system and ensure it complies with national and local data standards.
  • To assess, initiate and monitor appropriate action when a situation may compromise service delivery and to escalate.
  • To be aware of the processes for escalation of laboratory issues.
  • Skills & Experience
  • At least 2 years post HCPC registration
  • Recent laboratory experience in Haematology and/or Blood transfusion and experience of a variety of diagnostics techniques
  • Extensive experience in Blood film morphology review
  • Experience of ISO15189 requirements
  • Biomedical Science or equivalent
  • Current HCPC registration as a biomedical scientist
