Job summary

* To participate in the Duchess of Devonshire Wing (DDW) bleep holder scheme. * To take responsibility for individualised patient care, using the Roper Logan & Tierney model of care and documentation for the department. * To promote the partnership between nursing staff, patients and their care. * To attend and participate in department meetings. * Ensure that all aspects of confidentiality are upheld in relation to patient/employee

Main duties of the job

To assist the Manager in ensuring the department is efficiently and effectively managed at all times. To be responsible for the delivery of the highest standards of care and services. To maintain specialist training and experience in stem cell transplantation as detailed in the FACT-JACIE accreditation standards B3.700 (2008). This includes the appropriate assessment and evaluation of care in keeping with: * The philosophy of The Clinic. * The NMC Code of Professional Conduct and the Scope of Professional Practice. * The Clinic Policies and Protocols. * Current JACIE-FACT, BSBMT accreditation standards. * Human Tissue Authority. * National Patient Safety Agency. * Quality Care Commission

The role We are currently looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Band 6 Sister / Charge Nurse to join our specialist Stem Cell Transplant Unit at The London Clinic. This is a senior nursing opportunity where you will play a pivotal role in delivering safe, personalised care to patients undergoing complex haematology and stem cell transplant treatments. About us The Stem Cell Transplant Unit is part of our world-class cancer services department, based in our purpose-built Duchess of Devonshire Wing. We specialise in haematology-led care, including autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplants, and adhere to the highest clinical standards including JACIE-FACT accreditation.   • Lead the safe delivery of care for patients undergoing haematology treatment and stem cell transplants
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff while deputising for the Ward Manager when required
  • Participate in audits, quality improvement, JACIE accreditation activities and multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Administer cytotoxic chemotherapy and blood products in line with protocol
  • Promote patient-centred care and ensure safe documentation, drug administration and infection control
  • Act as an effective resource and point of contact for patients, families and colleagues
