Job summary

* To be able to work autonomously and also as part of a multidisciplinary team. * Deliver safe, evidence-based, and patient-centred care for adults with cancer, recognising their vulnerability as immunocompromised hosts. * Support patients receiving chemotherapy and systemic anti-cancer therapies (SACT) under the supervision of SACT trained staff.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality compassionate and safe nursing care to adult inpatients with cancer. Patients may be receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, supportive symptom management, or end-of-life care. You will work as part of a skilled and dedicated multidisciplinary team to asses, plan, deliver, and evaluate individualised care plans that support the unique needs of oncology patients and their families.

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our Oncology Inpatients team at The London Clinic on a part-time basis. This permanent position is for an average of 23 hours per week, worked flexibly across the month. Hours will be split as follows:

  • 23 hours per week for three weeks
  • 5 hours in the fourth week
  • Total monthly hours: 80.5
  • This role will follow a rotational shift pattern, including long days, weekends and nights, providing flexibility while ensuring continuity of care for our patients.   • FTE Salary: £37,530 - £48,063 per annum
  • Pro-rata Salary: Approximately £22,518 - £28,838 per annum (based on 23 hours per week)
  • As a Staff Nurse, you will care for adult oncology inpatients receiving a range of treatments including chemotherapy, immunotherapy and end-of-life care. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver safe, individualised care that meets the complex needs of patients and their families. Key Duties:
  • Deliver evidence-based nursing care to patients undergoing cancer treatment
  • Monitor and manage treatment-related symptoms and side effects
  • Contribute to assessment, planning and evaluation of individual care plans
  • Work under the supervision of SACT-trained staff and work towards achieving SACT competencies
  • Support patients and families with compassion, sensitivity and professionalism
  • Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control
  • Participate in audits, reflective practice and quality improvement initiatives
