Job summary
As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality compassionate and safe nursing care to adult inpatients with cancer. Patients may be receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, supportive symptom management, or end-of-life care. You will work as part of a skilled and dedicated multidisciplinary team to asses, plan, deliver, and evaluate individualised care plans that support the unique needs of oncology patients and their families.
Main duties of the job
* To be able to work autonomously and also as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Deliver safe, evidence-based, and patient-centred care for adults with cancer, recognising their vulnerability as immunocompromised hosts.
* Support patients receiving chemotherapy and systemic anti-cancer therapies (SACT) under the supervision of SACT trained staff.
* Monitor and manage symptoms and side effects of cancer and treatment, including pain, fatigue, nausea and anxiety.
