Job summary

* Take responsibility for individualised patient care as appropriate working closely with the Consultants, breast team nursing colleagues and clerical staff. * Ensure legibility and accuracy of nursing records and be aware of the legal implications of these documents. * Ensure the provision of excellent evidence-based care for patients. * Co-ordinate and assist the Breast Team in Clinical areas independently.

Main duties of the job

* The post holder will work with senior and junior staff co-ordinating and delivering quality standards of nursing care following a patient centred model of practice in keeping with the Clinic's Philosophy, the departments policies, SOPs and NMC guidelines. * They will be responsible for the delivery of evidence-based care implementing change and relevant organisational processes to improve quality and will work closely with Senior staff to ensure that this is implemented. There is a strong focus on focusing on day to day and ongoing service improvement. * The London Clinic is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of adults, children and young people at risk and expects all employees to share this commitment. The London Clinic - Internal Job Opportunity Job Title: Staff Nurse - Day Surgery Ward Salary: £36,450 - £44,252 Department: Day Surgery Ward Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday Closing Date: Monday 1 September 2025 The Role: As a Band 5 Staff Nurse in our Day Surgery Ward, you will play a key role in delivering safe, compassionate, and high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing a wide range of day case surgical procedures at The London Clinic. You will work across both the Day Surgery Ward and our Walk-In Walk-Out (WIWO) pathway, caring for patients from admission through to safe discharge. Our service supports multiple surgical specialties, including ophthalmic, general surgery, urology, ENT, gynaecology, and orthopaedics. Established in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK's largest private hospitals, with eight state-of-the-art facilities in the heart of London's medical community around Harley Street.   • Preparing patients for theatre and providing expert post-operative recovery care.
  • Monitoring and assessing patients' clinical condition, escalating concerns promptly.
  • Ensuring safe and timely discharge planning tailored to each patient's needs.
  • Collaborating with surgeons, anaesthetists, theatre teams, and allied health professionals.
  • Acting as a mentor and role model, supporting the development of students and new staff.

  • Skills and Experience: Essential Requirements
  • Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration
  • Post-registration experience in an acute surgical setting
  • Strong knowledge of perioperative and post-operative care, including discharge planning
  • Competence in patient assessment and IV therapy
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to team working and delivering high-quality patient-centred care
  • IT literate with basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Desirable Requirements
  • Previous experience in a day surgery or short-stay surgical unit
  • Skills in venepuncture, cannulation, ECG recording, and bladder scanning
  • Experience in ophthalmic, urology, or ENT nursing
  • Previous experience in the private healthcare sector
