Job summary

You'll be working in our 11-bedded Recovery Unit, providing high-quality post-operative care to patients across: Main Theatres, Day Surgery, Endoscopy, and Radiology. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of surgeries, including: General Surgery, ENT, Gynaecology, Hepatobiliary, Neuro-spinal, Ophthalmic, Orthopaedics, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Robotic Surgery, Urology, Vascular, and Bariatric (Weight Loss) Surgery

Main duties of the job

* Monitor patient's post-anaesthesia to ensure a safe recovery and respond promptly to any deterioration, supporting optimal outcomes. * Deliver individualised care plans by assessing patient needs and tailoring recovery interventions to support a smooth transition back to the ward or discharge. * Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation to support continuity of care and uphold patient safety. * Manage airways and provide pain relief interventions as required, ensuring patient comfort and stability.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our Theatre Recovery Unit. This role is based at our main hospital site and offers a competitive salary as well as a fantastic array of benefits. Job Profile

You'll be working in our 11-bedded Recovery Unit, providing high-quality post-operative care to patients across: Main Theatres, Day Surgery, Endoscopy, and Radiology. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of surgeries, including: General Surgery, ENT, Gynaecology, Hepatobiliary, Neuro-spinal, Ophthalmic, Orthopaedics, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Robotic Surgery, Urology, Vascular, and Bariatric Surgery.

Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week.

Salary: Band 5 Pay Scale - Depending on experience Location: The London Clinic, 20 Devonshire Place, London, W1G 6BW

Shift Pattern: We offer flexibility to support work-life balance with two main options:

  • Long Days: 3 shifts per week (07:30-21:00 or 09:00-22:30)
  • 5 shifts per week, rotating weekly - Early shifts (07:30 - 15:30) & Late shifts (14:30 - 22:30)
  • Participation in our on-call rota is required.
  • Benefits package:
  • Contributory pension scheme (total annual contribution up to 20%).

  • Registered Nurse (RGN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with valid NMC/HCPC registration
  • Excellent clinical judgement and calm under pressure
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including on-call shifts
  • Anaesthetic or multi-speciality theatre experience
  • Some experience in Recovery or Critical Care (e.g. ICU)
