Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Physiotherapist to join our Physiotherapy Department at The London Clinic, based at our main site in London (W1G 6BW). We are offering a competitive inclusive salary range of £56,743 - £68,121 per annum.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Physiotherapist, you will responsible for providing specialist assessment, advice, and treatment to patients within the 13 bedded Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Surgical wards supporting a range of specialities - colorectal, vascular, plastics, thoracic, gynaecology, urology, head & neck, neuroscience, oncology and orthopaedics. The patients may have highly complex respiratory-related disorders. You will be expected to work flexibly across all teams - Surgical, Oncology and Orthopaedics, primarily in the in-patient setting, and support the out of hours on call service. You will be supported and support others in furthering knowledge and skills according to the four pillars of practice - Clinical practice, Education, Leadership and management, Research and development.

Job responsibilities

Key Duties:

  • Undertake specialist assessment of patients on ICU/Surgery who may have diverse or complex presentations/multi pathologies; use advanced clinical reasoning skills and respiratory assessment techniques to provide appropriate treatment and ongoing management.
  • Utilise highly developed therapeutic handling skills to support rehabilitation of patients on ICU/Surgery.
  • Participate in and assist with the organisation of the respiratory weekday and weekend work, and out of hours on-call rota, providing regular training sessions to in-patient staff and assisting with the completion of supporting documentation & competency records, as well as supporting with the emergency cover.
  • Plan the effective daily management of caseloads of patients including responding to urgent referrals, unplanned admissions and, occasionally, unpredictable work patterns.
  • Prioritise and balance professional activities, including deputising for the team lead, supervising staff and students, etc, in accordance with the departmental requirements, and assist others in achieving this objective.

  • Proven experience with a broad spectrum of acute and chronic respiratory management
  • Proven experience across a wide range of specialities at Band 5/6 level
  • Experience of quality issues and audit
  • Previous participation in on-call and weekend working

  • Experience gained within a public sector organisation
