JOB SUMMARY

  • To work under direct or indirect supervision of the nursing staff, providing assistance with patients' overall care and safety
  • Support the team to deliver high quality patient centred care
  • To abide by The London Clinic and unit philosophies

Main duties of the job

Clinical Duties and Responsibilities

  • To assist with the maintenance of patient safety at all times.
  • Assist in delivering a high standard of holistic care to patients, recognising their individuality, and promoting privacy and dignity.
  • Assist with patient hygiene, elimination, mobility, physical comfort, eating, drinking, whilst observing and reporting specific changes.
  • Perform and report clinical observation of patient's including respiration rate, temperature, pulse, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and fluid balance.
  • Observe and report changes in patient's condition to named nurse/ nurse in charge.
  • Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team, patients, visitors and other hospital departments.
  • Assist with the maintenance of ward cleanliness and adhere to The London Clinic policies relating to infection control.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient, visitor and staff information.
  • Participate in Unit/Clinic projects.
  • To be aware of, and comply with all relevant Clinic and unit policies and guidelines.
  • To receive and follow instruction on the correct and safe use of all equipment relevant to your job and the procedures for reporting faults with this equipment.
  • To assist with the maintenance of stock levels.
  • To be flexible in staffing situations where possible.
  • Carry out duties in an efficient and helpful manner to maximise benefit for patients and visitors, colleagues, and self to promote the clinic and the unit.

Established in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK's largest independently owned non-profit hospital, with state-of-the-art facilities located on Harley Street. We have circa 1200 employees, a total of 8 premises, and we are dedicated to providing the best, personalised healthcare with a breadth of surgical and medical expertise.

Our main hospital spans 8 floors comprising of 234 beds and 10 theatres. Other premises include, The Duchess of Devonshire Wing (Cancer Centre), The London Clinic Eye Centre and 4 premises providing consulting room suites and diagnostic services.

Our Day Surgery Nursing Unit comprises of 16 day case rooms on the main ward, which offers dedicated, expert nursing teams to support our patients across the following specialties; Ophthalmology, ENT, Dermatology, Gynaecology, Maxillofacial, Orthopaedics, Spinal and pain, Urinary and male reproduction, Vascular and much more. Our modern day surgery unit also offers a day case unit for our local anaesthesia walk in/walk out patients, designed to improve the experience for patients as well as plenty of assessment rooms ensuring all pre-procedure interface is kept to the one unit.
