Main duties of the job
Nutritional Assessment:
- Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments, considering patient needs and medical history and imbalances.
Treatment Planning:
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop evidence-based nutritional treatment plans.
- Integrate dietary interventions into overall patient care plans.
Patient Education:
- Address the relationship between nutrition and mental health, especially in eating disorders.
Counselling and Support:
- Conduct individual and group counselling sessions addressing emotional aspects of food-related behaviours.
- Offer ongoing support, fostering positive therapeutic relationships.
Monitoring andDocumentation:
- Regularly monitor and evaluate patient nutritional status, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions.
Collaboration with MDT:
- Actively participate in team meetings, contributing insights for cohesive patient-centred care.
- Collaborate with various healthcare professionals to ensure an integrated approach.
- Engage in continuous professional development.
Crisis Intervention:
- Provide nutritional support during crisis situations.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure patient safety and
- well-being.
Contribution to Quality Improvement:
- Contribute to the development of best practices in dietetics.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.

The Priory Hospital sits on the edge of the New Forest, it is the ideal therapeutic environment for patients in recovery.
The Priory Hospital has 3 wards, 2 adult acute wards and a specialist Eating Disorder ward.
All wards have a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to effectively provide a holistic approach to treatment. The MDT consists of psychiatrists, speciality doctors, RGN/RMN, HCAs, OT, Psychology, dietetics and social work.
