Job summary
This is one WTE substantive post equivalent to 10 PAs which has become available because of the previous consultants moving to new roles. Part time/job share applications will also be considered.
We can consider condensed hours, part-time working and job-sharing arrangements.
The job involves providing consultant support to Skylark Adult Eating Disorders Ward which provides inpatient care for 11 NHS patients.
The MDT for the service is already in place and follows Priorys staffing model for an adult Eating Disorder service. This includes an Occupational Therapy department; a Psychology department; a Dietician; a Social Worker; a Physical Health Lead Nurse; and the wider nursing team. Support for the role is provided by a medical secretary and full-time specialty doctor: both have been in post for several years and are very familiar with the service.
As part of the role, the post holder will join the out of hours consultant on-call rota which is one in six weeks. This is a low intensity on-call providing consultant support by telephone to the RMO. The salary for the post includes on-call commitments.
The post holder will have professional and operational accountability to the Medical Director, who is based on-site as the consultant for Starling Ward.

About Priory Hospital Southampton
The Priory Hospital Southampton is part of the Priory group offering NHS funded inpatient care. The hospital is located in Marchwood on the outskirts of Southampton and comprises 40 inpatient beds across three wards. Sandpiper Ward: This is a mixed Adult Acute ward comprising 17 NHS Funded beds. The post holder will provide consultant input to this ward. Starling Ward: This is a mixed Adult Acute ward comprising 12 NHS Funded beds. Skylark Ward: 11 bedded specialist Eating Disorders Unit. The hospital has well established multidisciplinary teams in all wards including nursing, therapy, occupational therapy and psychology input. The non-consultant doctors in the hospital include three full-time specialty doctors and one full-time resident Medical Officer, who is based on-site.

Key Responsibilities of the role are as follows:
1. Holding RC responsibility for patients detained under the MHA
2. Providing clinical leadership to the MDT in assessment, treatment and discharge planning for inpatients following the acute care pathway
3. Weekly MDT Reviews
4. CPAs, Discharge planning, community and family liaisons
5. Working in collaboration with MDT to monitor day to day progress and evaluation of treatment plans as needed
6. Ensure MDT completion of agreed treatment plans
7. Cross cover arrangements for annual/sickness absence
8. Preparation of tribunal/hospital managers reports and attending the hearing if agreed by the consultant or in consultants absence
9. The post holder will have responsibility for providing weekly clinical supervision to the specialty doctor.

- The hospital has an active monthly clinical forum which is well attended. The post holder would be a member of the forum and would participate in case based discussions.
- There and established peer group to support with revalidation and appraisal which post holder would be welcomed to join.
- The post holder will be able to join hospital DBT consult which meets on weekly basis
- Priory supports continuing professional development and access to study leave with associated expenses is available via centrally allocated budget and approval system after the probation period.
- There is weekly Peer Group Supervision meeting attended by specialty doctors and consultants in the hospital.
- The post holder can join individual MPS medical indemnity via Priory Group and the associated expenses for Medical Indemnity will be paid by Priory
- The post holder will be part of the Priory Acute Service Line Group which holds quarterly meetings to support evidence based practice across all acute sites
- Priory Group provides annual appraisals and the post holder will have access to revalidation support by participation in Priorys appraisal framework
- Priory group provides mentorship support for all consultants if required
- The annual leave entitlement is 30 days with additional bank holidays.
